Is Turkey a Safe Holiday Destination? First let's put things into perspective. Nowadays nowhere is completely safe from terrorism, events during recent years in the USA, Spain and more recently in the UK, have proved this. With the disproportionate amount of publicity given to terrorist incidents it is not surprising that many people are afraid of being involved while on holiday. In actual fact, statistically you are more likely to drown, be poisoned or commit suicide while on holiday than being involved in an act of terrorism. Here are some statistics that may help to put the whole question of personal safety while you are on holiday into perspective, wherever you happen to be in the world.
CLICK THIS LINK to compare general crime statistics in the USA, the UK and TURKEY, then decide where you would rather be. In fact, if you live in the UK or the USA statically you will be safer while holidaying in TURKEY than if you stayed at home in your own country. |

The
New Turkish Lira From January 2005 the currency in Turkey changed to the Yeni Turk Lirasi (YTL), or New Turkish Lira. What was before one million Turkish Lira is now just one YTL, dropping six unwieldy zeros. The YTL is subdivided into 100 New Kurus, a unit of currency that all but disappeared during the years of hyper-Inflation in Turkey. From January 2006 the old coins and notes can only be exchanged for new currency at the Turkish central bank so be sure to check that you receive only new money in change. Flights to
Turkey Big changes have taken place over the past two years in the way the flight companies price their seats. Variable priced seats was a system pioneered by the low cost flight carriers whose aim is to fill every seat on every plane. To do this the low cost carriers came up with a booking program that adjusted the price of their seats on each individual flight based on feedback from inquiries and bookings. In other words if demand for a particular flight is low then the price automatically drops, as the plane fills up prices rise and if there are any seats left as the departure day/time gets closer the price can drop again. Even Turkish Airlines now price their seats on this basis, which means that sometimes you can gain all the advantages of a scheduled flight at a charter flight price. As a travel agency committed to providing the most economical service to our clients we have no allegiance to any particular airline. On receipt of a flight inquiry we search for the best option available, make a provisional reservation at the current price which is held for 48 hours while you make payment. |
