Pamukkale
Pamukkale in Turkish means 'Cotton Castle', a suitable name for a cascading wall of white calcium deposits. Hot oxide-rich water at around 37c has bubbled up from deep springs since well before Roman times. The result is tiers of crystal clear water pools formed by nature overflowing one to the other down a steep slope.
Visitors to this remarkable and breathtaking natural spectacle can paddle in specially prepared areas so as not to spoil the natural beauty of the site. Many of the hotels in Pamukkale have their own natural spring pools and the therapeutic qualities of the water have encouraged some to provide 'health tourism' facilities.
On the way to the calcium falls we pass through the ancient city of Hierapolis which is one of the Seven Churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible.
The tour includes an English speaking official guide, all incidental fees and entrance fees to the sites listed in the itinerary.
